How to become A Volunteer?
We need a lot of volunteers to keep the sanctuary going, here’s how you could help.
Volunteering can be very rewarding giving you a real sense of purpose, getting you out of the house and meeting new people, not to mention, you get to work with our fabulous donkeys and other volunteers!
Volunteering could be done as part of your Work experience, for Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, or a corporate community engagement project.
If you can spare a few hours a week or month you could:
Help in the yard feeding, watering, mucking out and grooming
Help at our regular weekend tabletop sales and other events
Help in the Visitor Centre making light refreshments
Help in the office with administrative tasks.

Frequently Asked Volunteering Questions
I have no experience?
That’s ok, we need various skills for the roles at Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary and you’d be surprised at how many transferrable skills you have. We also train you to do your job. For us, it’s more important that you are reliable and hard-working than having any particular skills.
Whom do I contact if I have a question or problem?
Do I need to volunteer 7 days a week from 11am to 4pm?
No. We’ll do our best to fit in with what you can manage and if that changes over time, well, that’s fine too, just talk to us.
I'm not very strong and don't really like working outside...
That’s ok, we have office admin jobs as well as jobs in our shop and need staff to help organise our weekend events. We’re sure to have something you could do.
